Whats On

Mouthpiece, play by Kieran Hurley

Mouthpiece, an audacious and gripping play by Kieran Hurley, will make its Queensland premiere on stage at QPAC from October 31 to November 14, starring stage luminary Christen O’Leary.

Presented by Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) and Queensland Theatre, this award-winning, thought-provoking play is a bold collision of class, privilege and power.

Libby (Christen O’Leary) is a woman who has wasted her opportunities, while Declan (Jayden Popik, in his Queensland Theatre debut) is a young man who will never be offered any. He has a story, and she has the voice to tell it… but does she have the right to? When does inspiration become theft?

A riveting piece of theatre that pushes past the politics with humour, hope and fight, Mouthpiece deftly questions the notion of theatre itself, exploring its unique ability to connect us all, while provoking audiences to search for where the lines should be drawn.

From its startling opening, through to its final devastating showdown, Mouthpiece will challenge you, surprise you, and have your head spinning with the knotty ethical issues it provokes long after the curtain has closed.
