Don’t you just love the holidays?
I remember when I was a child Christmas time was my absolute favourite time of year. From the wonderment of the magical Santa Claus to the time out of school I absolutely adored the holiday. Some of my fondest memories are those with my family boating in the Brisbane River, picnics in the park, and driving around looking at all the bright and beautiful holiday lights.
Today’s children are so consumed with electronics and sitting inside on social media they don’t know what it is to go play outside and utilize their imagination. The best thing for them to do is go outside and play. It helps them develop mentally and physically.
You can start with the Kangaroo Point parks where you and the children can enjoy picnicking, cycling, playing on the playgrounds or if you need a few moments to yourself, a relaxing stroll.
If you’re up for adventure try rock climbing at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, abseiling, kayaking, or learn to ride the stand-up paddle board in the Brisbane River at Riverlife. The choices are endless!
Learning is a lot of fun when you’re outside. If your ankle biters are anything like mine they love animals. There are places in Queensland like stray animal shelters that allow you to come in and visit the animals or of course adopt if that is a commitment you and your family are ready to make.
There are also other options that really stimulate the mind for the little mates to do. The library hosts multiple workshops for them where they can master arts and crafts. You can also visit the Queensland, Museum located at Grey St & Melbourne St, South Brisbane QLD 4101. It is open daily from 9.30 am- 5.00 pm but note that it is closed on Christmas day.
There are many activities for the little ones to partake in to keep from driving you bonkers indoors during holiday break. They will learn something new that they can talk to all their mates about at school. Make this holiday fun for you and your family!
